内敛到最后的reveal也轻描淡写但后劲十足，BC和Kirsten Dunst都演得太到位，窒息了。
冗长、沉闷、无趣的一个故事，套了个西部的外壳。
3星，影片里同性的内容很少， 而且我觉得男主谈不谈感情， 是不是同性恋无关紧要。 虽说他死于此， 但影片里已经表现出他格格不入， 没有家庭没有爱人，势必会被社会和时代所淘汰。。 男主代表的是西部的蛮荒精神， 代表了勇敢的孤独主义，代表了望向远山的开拓之心。 但他死去之时，预示着西部野蛮主义的闭幕，穿上西装下葬，代表了文明将蛮荒埋葬。 他的真爱始于一个豪迈进取的莽荒牛仔， 结束于一个精致算计的现代男孩。 男主是一个可怜人，一个被时代淘汰的人。 因为现代社会，已经没有男主这样的牛仔了，只有男主弟弟这样的聪明人， 还有那个精于算计的精致男孩。
3.5。母之力，接下來就是兒子V.S繼父……(影片以權謀驚悚的角度來看，反而較耐人尋味。)看似脆弱頹廢的母親，最了解自己的兒子，Kirsten Dunst令人意想不到的表演好 !
已经记不清有多少年没看过这种满脑子问号的电影了。。。I was like exfuckingcuse me？？？感觉导演就是在玩捉迷藏呢。。。
所有人的演技都太强了，特别是前期男主与弟媳之间的令人极其窒息的压抑，导演表现得也很好，最后我的爱意把自己害死了自己有点伤心。非常奇怪的故事，也拍得挺好。
名场面：phil（Benedict饰）摸花 ； Phil与Peter私人对谈、二人点烟小动作； Phil死后Peter在深夜里一个人露出得意的笑； 这部电影让我感受到了：爱与犯罪 文明与蛮荒 两者之间从来不冲突——我想看原著了！！
克制太明显，将故事风格平静转为压抑，从细致的人物描写和多处伏笔上就将故事拉向一个悲剧，男性的阴柔和刚烈，彼得面貌柔弱内心残酷，菲尔外表强硬内心的脆弱，到结局的死亡，孤独的灵魂逐渐阐开，却也象征一个野蛮的旧时代男子以及这个旧时代的落没。同性元素在这部电影里只是一个人物符号，暗喻压抑，也代表菲尔这个多元素所集结一身的人物的矛盾，本身就是作者所赋予的多重人性的指代，在这个远离文明社会的西部地区，寂寞和缺爱导致的刻薄暴躁，在面临隔绝恐怖的爱中，死亡也许是唯一的解脱。卷福依然很让人感慨
母亲肯定知道他杀手特质，但母亲有意利用了吗?反正客观上,推动他查医书寻找解决方案的确实是母亲酒后那段 远在天边的星星唾手可得。
适当加速吧，这样的感觉太拖沓。
这是一部前两个小时以为是（断背）文艺片在看的，最后一秒发现原来是缜密谋杀片的电影。
金玉其外，虽不是败絮，但就加上现代人爱看的LGBTQ，也实在算不上回味悠长。倒是DB文艺资深青年最爱拿来标榜品味的“命题作文”了。Kodi 演技那么寡淡居然还能拿金球男配，疫情期间也太缺人缺片缺推广了。
看到最后才明白，虽然菲力身上有缺点，却是这堆人里最单纯而正常的人。他的死更让人看见深藏在他性格里的可爱和真诚。而另外三个人，都是戴着好人面具的可怜人：一个是油滑的趋炎附势，一个是懦弱的一蹶不振，而儿子，从骨子里散发着令人窒息的阴毒和变态，这种性格养成源于他病态的母亲，而菲力竟然一眼就看穿并抛出橄榄枝。虽然他的外在形象和表达方式放现在来看不太政治正确，但这些也只是他迫于当时社会环境的伪装而已。除了他自己，没有人看到过他的内心。
很喜欢。女性凝视下的男性人物在背景性格上的对比表现得很有意思，角色刻画含蓄沉稳不动声色但处处充满戏剧张力，跟让人紧张uneasy的配乐形成对比。Jane Campion真是从不让人失望呐。

穿插的泰伦斯马力克式自然景观过场属于高级遮羞。没有别的把节奏慢下来的办法了。
我们本该思考，本该对很多事情保持严肃。可现实如何呢？繁重的工作、铺天盖地的娱乐化信息早已把太多的人淹没、埋葬。他们早已丧失了愤怒的能力、力量与动机，化作一个个无情的娱乐机器。尽管讽刺得有点过饱和，但正如电影叙述的那般——我们都和Dibiasky、Randall一样对这巨大浪潮无能为力——所以即便讽刺到没边，也什么都难以改变；讽刺多到极致，实际上是一种对现实绝望的悲哀。笑点自不必多说，每一个都很有梗、紧跟时事。只是笑过之后——哪怕现实难以撼动——也请不要忘记：对必要的事情保持愤怒，保持严肃…
