The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. Darren and Annie still enjoy each other’s company and laugh at each other’s jokes, but, unfortunately, they can’t remember the last time they had sex. When a dinner party conversation leads to an honest discussion about the state of their love life, and when a sexy bikini photo shoot leads to crossword puzzles instead of sex, they begin to flirt with a way to spice things up. The deal: one night of freedom, no strings attached, no questions asked. Could a freebie be the cure for their ailing sex life? And will they go through with it? 与《智能大反攻》相同的开篇，大致类似的背景与故事（同样都有科尔曼配音）。只不过后者走的是人工智能自我意识觉醒的《升级》路线，而本片则是修补心灵创伤的《超能陆战队》路线。有关治愈主题的好莱坞动画影片我们已经看得太多，却还是会为这种纯粹的情感而动容。昔日的好友也会走向形同陌路，害怕孤独却也难逃形单影只。陪伴或许不能恒久，但彼时的记忆永远嵌在心中。
小白的存在，等同于未来社会人类的灵魂容器，突破电子监禁的规则才能恢复人类该有的活力，整体还是比较套路规整的创作，第三幕塞得东西太多，导致冗长刻意。

作为一个孩子的家长，当然是不喜欢自己的孩子最好的朋友是个机器人了，哪怕算法再高级，也是个机器人，不好。
【7.5-】比《失控玩家》主题更明确，也更可爱

但大概更想给成年人一个启示
又是一部以人机友谊为题材的感人动画片，没有更多的槽点，在欢笑与泪水中结束观影。影片中的机器人犹如《超能陆战队》中的大白机器人的缩小版，又让我想到了《芬奇》中的机器人，这些电影重在刻画人工智能机器人与人类建立起来的纯真人机友谊。人机友谊之所以无数次打动观众，就是因为机器人友谊是纯洁无杂质的，是现实世界人类友谊所无法匹敌的，所以这类电影才能唤起人们对纯洁友谊的渴望和共鸣。
