The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 小而精的战争片典范。在像《长津湖》这样的主旋律大片统摄市场的情形下，大导还能有这样的尝试并且正面对打，令人尊敬。但少了点灵韵，少了点美。
大永，班长，胖墩，绿娃子，小徐呜呜呜每一个人都让我记得。每一个生命都被尊重。

冷枪热血 段段精彩 不拖泥带水 “小窗口”演绎“大无畏”！
印象最深的一幕，狙击五班的战士们齐声高歌时，另一边的美军们起内讧拳打脚踢。两方差距，高下立判。脆弱爱哭是大永的缺点，也是他惹人怜爱的闪光点。饰演大永的陈永胜找到了最适合他的角色，预感会成为下一个“许三多”或者“谷子地”。电影冷峻又温暖地再现了“冷枪冷炮”运动不起眼的一隅，让世人看清了血肉模糊的战争真相。期待春节档票房大爆。
有幸见过本片编剧陈宇教授。
这绝对是国师生涯最好的作品！很可能也是中国战争题材的最佳电影！
音乐过头了，张艺谋还不够克制。结尾彩蛋既然致敬了《上甘岭》，片尾曲为什么不选《我的祖国》？

雄起！很震撼很细腻！只用一个场景、一个战场、一个故事诠释了牺牲的爱！！
我真的要多安利下这电影 有些导演真的不懂怎么好好的讲一个故事 现在国家强大了电影工业做的出特效了 但要求也高了啊 前两年或许红海行动还能满足我们 现在我真的觉得 故事永远是电影的核心 我太喜欢张艺谋了55
国师忙活冬奥开幕式期间请假两个月整出来的活质量这么高，我不禁怀疑给他一个师他是不是敢打太原。
虽然说这个故事设定未免牵强，但好在用较短的篇幅只聚焦在一场战斗，对于故事节奏来说是非常紧凑的。然而让人摸不着头脑的地方也随处可见，狙击手团体对决总是有些江湖决斗之感，身为狙击班的五班遭遇伏击还慌乱救人送人头，班长毅然决然抱着手榴弹赴死，美军上尉打黑枪又不派人。只能说影片整体很完整，细节很难堪。
现实更精彩，张桃芳没受过伤
比照2020《一秒钟》，2021《悬崖之上》，这部依旧是擅长的以小见大&人物群像，导演早已在艺术和商业中完成了自洽，给予了符合大众期待且易于理解的呈现。叙事扎实不贪多，群像人物分成几组，各有交代，画面故事感十足，片尾曲潸然泪下。故事原型在现实中善始善终，也很安慰。
张艺谋牛逼！！！一个半小时的电影，节奏掌握的太好了！！！狠狠给我冲！！！
做减法是好事，但是不够精彩。结尾有点乱来了。
相当简练克制，场景单一，但节奏紧张，冰天雪地更为冷枪增添了一份“冷”，残酷与肃杀，但热血热情丝毫不减。没有丑化矮化对手，也没有一味追求我方的高大上，爱哭的狙击手这个设定很有意思。
泪点很多，一场狙击战有血有肉，老谋子还会这风格，可能是春节档最值得的片了
