只要是和克隆人技术有关，伦理是一个绕不开去的话题。影片的观点或许就是：替代者本身就完全是自己的DNA复制的，当本体即将死去，那么用克隆体继续生存下去是除了对自己本体不公以外，其余各方面来说都是最完美的解决方案。
