The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 演员在体态上卖力的自我折磨就像店家拉着“最后一日”的清仓横幅却牢牢盘踞一个月一样，沦为仅剩的一点可怜噱头。前半段看到马克·沃尔伯格应聘演员的时候有短暂闪回到《不羁夜》，拳击手失业也不一定就要做神父嘛，还可以下海的（不是）。
过程很艰难，全凭意志力。影片比较平淡，也没什么惊喜。活着就是最好的结果。
梅尔吉布森是真老了，近年来片子原来越少，幕后好像也不多了，多拍点《启示》那种影片。哪怕你是壮如牛的拳击手，还是一样敌不过现实生活中的困难，更别说绝症了，珍惜当下吧，不要太在意明天。
了解主创想把90年代的校园电影带回给如今的观众，但是假欢乐有点多。预告片比正片好看。

本是不错的题材 何况有真实改编加持 哪知拍的这么乱 梅尔吉布森这个小40岁的女友到头来也只是个关系户导演 大长篇幅描写犯罪与拳击生涯 想达成强对比的想法没错 但太过于抢戏 剧情和矛盾转折太突兀 让后面的改变很难入戏 不硕找两个肌肉猛男演父子情深 马克沃尔伯格这张白左的脸让人感觉下一秒就要一拳冲上去
信仰是真的重要，自救老天才会帮手。。MW真的不错，后面那一堆肥肉装要做表情是真的难哈哈哈
算是今年上半年看到的最感人的福音电影了吧，没想到是传记类电影
前半段看的很感动，后半段实在没拍好。一个teenager都不知道什么是自己，又怎么做自己呢？立意和冲击感都有了，但是逻辑并没拍的很顺畅。好在演员演的都不错，除了没完没了的澳洲口音！
有关Greenland属于丹麦的。比较感人。
曾经的两大猛男，专拍热血动作片的梅尔杰布森和马克沃尔伯格，现在拍了一部算是励志的传记片。主角也是命运多舛，人生的打击一波接一波，大难不死没有后福，而让他承受更大的灾难，上帝啊。
节奏拖沓，储备物资能熬过800多天有点不信。
上帝让其复活，然后得偿所愿，与父母和解，获得尊重和认同，并最终重归于上帝。虽然是真人真事改编，但是突然转变貌似有些快。死缠烂打依旧是俘获好女孩芳心的有效手段。梅尔吉布森和沃尔伯格的相爱相杀父子情还挺让人共情的。男主从健康时的满身肌肉，到入学神学院时的大肚腩，再到最后病入膏肓时的浑身浮肿，化妆还是挺不错的。
这是网飞给90后安排的回忆杀吗，布兰妮艾薇儿Destiny's Child…千禧年的流行文化符号像一台时光机，爷青回。
三星半，最后真的有点tedious,故事还是很励志的
