The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. 为什么非要强行在里面加一段感情线（还是忘年恋！），虽然自认为不是道德卫士，但是刚深情表白妻子，前脚送走她后脚就跟女同事眉来眼去，看着还挺让人蔑视的，颇倒胃口。男女就不能Professional点吗？唯一的亮点就是“我们被这些人给包围了吗？”“德国人？”“不，作家！”另外，刚在神奇动物3里被基情搞得很尴尬的我为什么在本片中也躲不过……可恶的英国（基）佬！（不对）
导演对于科幻和现代社会的理解仍然停留在上世纪七八十年代，无法代入也就get不到笑点。
